eToro Brings Crypto Trading Directly to Twitter Users
Social investing platform eToro has announced a partnership with Twitter, allowing users to access trading services for cryptocurrencies and other assets directly through the social media platform. The collaboration enables Twitter users to search for “$Cashtags,” such as $TSLA or $BTC, and receive real-time pricing information for various assets while being directed to the eToro platform for investment.
Expanding the List of Tradable Assets
Currently, Twitter users can view live price charts for a limited selection of financial assets using the $Cashtag symbol. However, the partnership with eToro will significantly expand the available list of tradable assets, according to a press statement shared with ETHNews.
Since adding pricing data for $Cashtags in December, Twitter has recorded 420 million searches, with top searches including Tesla ($TSLA), Bitcoin ($BTC), and SPDR S&P 500 ETF ($SPY), as per the internal data in the press statement.
Creating a “Super App” with Financial Integration
The $Cashtags expansion aligns with Twitter owner Elon Musk’s vision to incorporate financial services into the platform, aiming to create a “super app.” Musk has previously expressed his desire for Twitter’s proposed payment system to support both cryptocurrency and fiat currencies.
Strengthening the #FinTwitter Community
Chris Riedy, Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing at Twitter, said in a press release, “We are pleased to partner with eToro to provide Twitter users with additional market insights and greater access to investment capabilities. Twitter will continue to invest in growing the #FinTwitter community.”
